How to Make Anti-Aging Face Serum with All-Natural Ingredients
Before we jump into this anti-aging face serum recipe, we want to say something . . .
Getting older is natural, and if you ask us, it rocks!
It brings self-awareness, wisdom, maturity, dignity, the ability to give great advice grounded in experience, and so much more.
There’s a modern trend that’s showcasing the beauty of women who look more mature, and we love it. How nice is it to see our values finally starting to be honored by sources like the mainstream media?
That said, caring for our skin shows self-love.
Just like the rest of our bodies, skin is always in a process of self-regeneration—the cells renewing themselves, antioxidants busting free radicals, our pores expelling toxins and (hopefully) taking in the all-natural goodness of our skincare products, like body butters and face serums.
And the more skin can heal itself, the healthier (and younger) it looks.
So when you hear the word “anti-aging,” we invite you to think of it as meaning, “healing.”
This DIY essential oil face serum for anti-aging is made with all-natural ingredients full of antioxidants, and essential oils that are traditionally used to support healing and cell-regeneration.
Here’s the all-natural DIY recipe. (We’ll tell you about the ingredients below!)
Your Essential Oil Face Serum for Anti-Aging
- ½ oz argan oil (Argania spinosa)
- ½ oz raspberry seed oil (Rubus idaeus)
- 2 drops helichrysum essential oil (Helichrysum italicum)
- 1 drop rose essential oil (Rosa × damascena)
Make your blend in a 1 oz bottle with a squeeze dropper.
After you wash your face, use 3 or 4 drops in the palm of your hand and massage it into your clean, damp skin.
If you can make your anti-aging face serum with organic carriers and essential oils, that is even better!
About the all-natural ingredients . . .
Argan Oil – Argania spinosa is a light, silky carrier oil that’s hand pressed from argan nuts by the women of Morocco. It doesn’t clog pores, which makes it great for a face serum, and is chock-full of antioxidants and vitamin E.
Red Raspberry Seed Oil – Rubus idaeus is another super-light, antioxidant-rich carrier oil. It has a high content of essential fatty acids, as well as vitamins A and E. Red raspberry seed oil is also popular for acne-clearing blends, since it’s good at preventing the growth of some kinds of bacteria.

SCIENCE SIDE NOTE: You remember what antioxidants do, right?
They fight free radicals, which are "rogue" molecules that have an uneven number of electrons. Electrons like to be in pairs—nicely balanced! So free radicals "steal" electrons from other cells in order to achieve that balance. Unfortunately, this makes the other cells unstable, causing them to "oxidize."
The process of oxidation breaks things down—it happens to essential oil roller ball blends, pure essential oils in the bottle, fruits, vegetables, all-natural juices, and your very own cells. Basically, the more we can reduce the process of oxidation, the more we keep things fresh and healthy.
Including our skin!
That's where antioxidants come in. The free radical "steals" the extra molecule it wants from the antioxidant, instead of from our cells.

Helichrysum essential oil – Helichrysum italicum is also called “everlasting” and “immortelle.” As its names suggest, it is a powerful rejuvenating essential oil! Helichrysum is often used to calm inflammation and for wound healing, and is so potent that it’s not recommended for use on very deep lacerations or puncture wounds (like from a dog bite). Punctures need to heal slowly, from the outside in, and helichrysum simply works to fast for that. It’s prefect for a face serum, where it can help skin cells with their natural process of regeneration.
Rose essential oil – Rosa × damascena is a classic essential oil for skin care, and is popular in anti-aging face serum blends. Just like helichrysum, rose can be used to calm inflammation—making it helpful if your face tends to look a little red. Rose is also popular for anti-acne face serums, for clarifying skin, and for helping to reduce the appearance of pore size. Rose is especially great if you have oily skin.
Both helichrysum and rose have strong scents, so just a few drops in your all-natural face serum recipe will go a long way.
We don't recommend making more than 1 oz of this anti-aging face serum at a time. This is to keep the blend as fresh as possible. Even just using 3 to 4 drops a day, we bet you'll go through this blend quickly and want to make more.
